Kāpia (Kauri Gum) Roimata Pendant
Kāpia (Kauri Gum) Roimata Pendant encased in fine silver bezel and sterling silver leaf patterned back. Kāpia (Kauri Gum) cabochon made by hand which is therapeutic but quite time consuming. The Roimata means “Tear Drop” which represents strength and courage. Pendant is approx 40mm long x 27mm wide.
Can come by itself or with a sterling silver chain of your choice pictured below as an add on, you choose.
Kāpia (Kauri Gum) is the fossilised resin or sap of the Kauri Tree (Agathis australis). The age of the gum can vary significantly from anywhere from a few hundred years old to many hundreds of thousands of years old. Kāpia is sometimes known as New Zealand Amber.
Kāpia comes in many shades and colours, from almost completely clear, gold, brown which is more common, to less common red, green to almost black. Hardly any Kāpia supplies are available, so very little remains outside of museums.
To care for your Kāpia (Kauri Gum) Taonga, please don’t spray perfume on it, don’t wear in pools or for sports as it can scratch easily.
